We have in the Book of Revelation
astounding prophecies written by the apostle John somewhere around the year 90
AD from the island of Patmos in the Aegean Sea. Prophesy is completely absent
from the Koran, the Hindu Vedas, the Ramayana, the Buddhist literature and
Confucian literature. Because the Bible foretells the major events of world
history before they happened, we can be assured that the infinite personal God
and Father of the Bible is the true God. No prophecies foretold the coming of
Buddha, Muhammad, Zoroaster, or Confucius, but Bible prophecy did detail with
precision the first coming of Christ and the events surrounding this momentous
occurrence in history. The major sweep of various empires coming and going is
detailed in prophecy along with the predictions of Moses about what would
happen to the nation of Israel in the final days as she is regathered to the
land of Israel.
We see in Revelation 17 that a woman
rides the beast. It is also noteworthy that this woman riding on the beast is
currently pictured on the Euro currency of the European Union. John is carried
away by an angel who sees the following:
"So he carried me away in the Spirit
into the wilderness. And I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast which was
full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns." (Revelation
17)
The prophet Daniel had seen this same
beast which represented the final form of Gentile world government. This beast
in Daniel 7 also had ten horns on its head. Daniel also depicts the anti-
Christ in this vision as the little horn. This fourth kingdom of Daniel and
Revelation shall devour the whole world and the ten horns are ten kings who
shall arise in this kingdom. This final form of world empire lead by the world
dictator (the anti-Christ) will come to power in what is called the Day of the
Lord. This will be God's final judgment of mankind for rebellion against the
light of God and will last seven years. We see that the woman rides this
ungodly anti- Christ empire which implies that she has some control and is
directing this beast but she also is dependent on it for her
survival.
"Then one of the seven angels who had
the seven bowls came and talked with me, saying to me, --- Come, I will show
you the judgment of the great harlot who sits on many waters. Then he said to
me, The waters which you saw, where the harlot sits, are peoples, multitudes,
nations and tongues." (Revelation 17)
The scripture further identifies this
woman as a great harlot. This is a religious system that has prostituted itself
and has lost its purity by committing fornication. The bride of Christ is of
course absolutely pure in comparison and is faithful to her spouse who is the
Bridegroom or the Lord Jesus Christ. This woman has committed fornication with
the kings of the earth! So it is further revealed that this harlot religious
system has joined herself to the kings and political leaders of history rather
that to her true Lord and King. Furthermore this prostitute system is massive
in that she has controlled peoples, multitudes, nations and tongues.
In the first three hundred years of
church history there were ten general persecutions of the Christians by the
Roman emperors. Finally there was a great shift in 313AD when Constantine
became Roman emperor. With the Edict of Milan Constantine ordered a toleration
of Christianity and encouraged all Romans to accept Christianity. At this time
the empire became nominally Christian and then in 376AD under the emperor
Theodosius membership in the church was made compulsory. The church became
paganized with the worship of images, relics, martyrs, Mary and the saints. The
office of the bishop was elevated and the people were taught to unconditionally
obey the bishops. Roman law and political ideas had a strong influence in the
church particularly after the destruction of Jerusalem in 70AD. The apostolic
Christianity of the apostolic period was diluted and mixed with the pagan
rituals from Egypt, Babylon, Asia Minor, and Greece. Constantine was considered
to be the Bishop of Bishops and also Pontifex Maximus which means he was head
of all the pagan mystery religions. Constantine convened the Council of Nicaea
in 325AD with all the bishops of the Roman Empire. The organized life of the
church was molded by the Roman government and this process eventually resulted
in Roman Catholicism. The Roman emperor after the fall of Rome eventually found
his ecclesiastical counterpart in the Pope. Infant baptism replaced adult
believers baptism and when infants were baptized they were considered to be
born again. Of course this contradicted the Bible as we see no infant baptism
in the Bible. Enforced celibacy of the clergy was also a practice instituted by
Roman Catholicism along with purgatory which were both unbiblical.
"With whom the kings of the earth
committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth were made drunk with
the wine of her fornication." (Revelation 17)
So the Roman Catholic Church became a
state church while the original apostolic churches were local churches overseen
by elders and deacons. There was a vast difference between these original on
fire apostolic churches and the imposing temple ceremonies and seven sacraments
of the Roman Catholic Church.
"The woman was arrayed in purple and
scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls, having in her
hand a golden cup full of abominations and the filthiness of her fornication.
And on her forehead a name written:
MYSTERY BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF
HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH."
This false church is arrayed with great
riches and imposing ceremonies. She uses the gold and silver chalice for her
sacrifice of the mass and with her false teaching multitudes in the earth are
made drunk or intoxicated with her spiritual harlotry. In the Council of Trent
she placed curses on all the reformers who denied her false doctrines and she
did her best in history to keep the Bible in Latin so the peoples of the earth
could not understand what was written by the Holy Spirit in the Word of God!
The word Vatican means the place of divination. The Vatican has been obsessed
with earthly enterprises as her popes have built a world empire of property,
wealth, and influence. They have repeatedly throughout history engaged in
spiritual fornication with emperors, kings and politicians. The colors of
purple and scarlet identify the woman with pagan Rome for these were the colors
of the Roman Caesars. As for the word mystery imprinted of the woman's forehead
--- Mystery is at the heart of Roman Catholicism from the apparitions of Mary
to the ringing of bells and swinging of incense bowls.
Ancient Babylon of old was described by
the Lord as a golden cup in the in the Lord's hand from which he made the whole
world drunk. To really understand Mystery Babylon it is necessary to understand
ancient Babylon and the Chaldean mysteries which originated there. Babylon was
the seat of all ancient idolatry and the place where the queen of heaven was
worshipped along with her son Tammuz. The Chaldean priests had charge of
ancient satanic mysteries which were handed down all the way from the Tower of
Babel. When Nimrod died his mother according to ancient stories declared
herself the queen of heaven and Nimrod Baal or the sun god who she said was
resurrected from the dead. Statues appeared all over Babylon, Egypt, Israel,
and Greece of the mother with her child in her arms. When Rome conquered the
world the various forms of the Babylonian mysteries were absorbed into the
empire which became known as pagan Rome. Because of the clever way that
paganism was mixed with Christianity the true Babylonish origin became hidden
or became a mystery --- thus Mystery Babylon.

This counterfeit church killed and
persecuted true Christians such as John Hus and Martin Luther. In the
Inquisition brought on by the Dominicans thousands were tortured and killed
both Jews and true Christians. During World War Two the Roman Catholic Church
supported Adolf Hitler and Mussolini. And today the Catholic Church supports
replacement theology and is still trying to make Jerusalem an international
city. They don't believe the scriptures which predict the return of the Jews to
Israel. Many Evangelical Christians today want to join with Roman Catholics in
unity but they do not understand that the Catholic Church has refused to be
reformed throughout her history and has a government that will not renounce the
unbiblical practices of this church. I can only say to those Catholics who are
born again to come out from among them and touch not the unclean things of the
harlot church. God is not tolerant of this church which he calls a harlot!
Everywhere the Catholic Church went in South America it denounced freedom of
religion and democracy and promoted dictatorships. The Mary of the Catholic
Church is not the Mary of the Bible but the queen of heaven from ancient
Babylon and a satanic principality.
'Here is the mind which has wisdom: The
seven heads are seven hills on which the woman sits. And the woman you saw is
that great city which reigns over the kings of the earth." (Revelation
17)
There is only one city that rules over
the kings of the earth and that is Vatican city where the pope resides.
Historically the pope has ruled over the kings of Europe and many places
elsewhere for hundreds of years. Rome has been known as the city of seven hills
throughout history also. I have know many Roman Catholics who have been born
again through the years and my concern for them is that they leave this dead
body so they they can get free of this bondage of Mystery Babylon!
